I shatttered my right ankle and I broke 3 bones at the base of my leg and foot. The tibia, fibula and a small part of the talus.
Do not worry I'm doing well despite a severe case of cabin fever and boredom due to the lack of mobility and being forced to keep my leg up.There is a new level in hell and it is called Swedish afternoon tv. (MArried with Children and Fresh Prince anyone?)
It happened on monday almost 5 weeks ago. While walking thru the wooded area near home. I was going doing a rocky incline when I slipped on a pine cone. My body went one way and my ankle went the other."CRACK"
After an hour, I was found by a young boy and his father and was wisked away to a nearby hospital. There I spent two weeks due to complications in swelling and infections. I was operated on( pins and a plate) and released.
I have spent the last few weeks at home, mostly zonked out on the couch and the bed on Oxycotin (EVIL!)and the fact that my left hip got slighty dislocated from the hopping around on one leg of my lithe ballerina-like body mass........
I'm very limited on what I can do. It's only been over the last couple of days I've only been able to sit at the computer for a short while to do emails and chat.
I'm getting a new cast on monday if all healed well (keep your fingers crossed). It will be a sturdier model that will permit me to be more mobile. That will be for a 4-5 week period. Woo hoo I'll be able to walk outside!
After that there will be a period where I will be wearing what the call a soft cast and then 3-6 months of physio........I should be able to be normal within a year.
So that's the big news.
Hoppe all is good your way and ttyl
